Marcello Mereu

Marcello has been working in Learning & Development since 2001. He started as a teaching assistant in Human Resources Development (College of Europe, Bruges). In 2003, after a six-month traineeship in the training unit of the European Commission in Brussels, Marcello became an independent trainer and facilitator and has since worked in various fields for a number of clients across the globe, using innovative and interactive methods.

Marcello Mereu was born in Sardinia, Italy. After successfully completing an International Baccalaureate Diploma, he left the country at the age of 19 and has lived in three different countries since: UK, France and Belgium, his current residence. Marcello can train in English, French, Italian and Spanish.

His personal and professional interests have always revolved around the vast field of communication. Marcello’s professional goals include helping people in organisations understand what really matters to them, both in terms of the professional direction they want to take and more operationally in terms of how to face all issues, challenges and problems they face in their daily work life. A psychologist and therapist, Marcello seeks to facilitate all problem-solving processes at the organisational and personal levels.

Marcello brings solid interpersonal and intercultural experience with him. His strengths lie with his strong and varied communication skills and the ability to put a variety of messages across, regardless of their complexity or the nature of the audience in front of him.

His first degree was in Drama and Theatre Studies (University of Kent at Canterbury and a one year exchange programme at the Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris). He then went on to complete two Master’s degrees, one in Interpreting and Translating (University of Bath) and another in Human Resources Development (College of Europe, Bruges, Belgium). An MBTI® certified practitioner, Marcello also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology (Open University in the UK), and has attended a three-year course in Psychotherapy (Therapeutia, Brussels, Belgium) which qualifies him as a psychotherapist.

Philosophy:believe in empathy to provide infinite solutions and numerous gifts to everyone. As Carl Rogers said: “The state of empathy, or being empathic, is to perceive the internal frame of reference of another with accuracy and with the emotional components and meanings which pertain thereto as if one were the person”. I believe that if we all learned, practiced and perfected empathy, human communication would be one of the easiest and smoothest experiences on Earth.
